Victorian School Day
As part of our topic, we held a Victorian day in Year Five on Wednesday 18th March. Tables were arranged in rows and lessons were typical of Victorian times. Children had to chant their times tables, practice their cursive handwriting and recite poetry. Silly children were made to wear the Dunce’s hat and naughty children came to the front for “six of the best”. (Although thankfully, the teachers were only pretending!) After learning a typical Victorian Song “All Things Bright and Beautiful” the children played traditional games out in the playground.
